Day 1 Arrive
Delhi -
Meeting and assistance on arrival and transfer to the hotel. Overnight at
the hotel.
Day 2
Delhi
Following breakfast
full day visit of New and Old Delhi. New Delhi. Our tour of New Delhi
includes visits to such sights as Humayun's Tomb (1586) and Safdarjung's
Tomb (1753) the Qutab Minar 72 meters high and one of the most perfect
towers in the Persian world. The Iron Pillar which has survived the vagaries
of weather for over 1500 years. Continue with a drive through Embassy area,
the Government buildings (1921-1930) and Connaught Place, the heart and main
shopping district of the capital. Old Delhi: An ancient walled city. Here
you will see Red Fort, the most opulent Fort and Palace of the Mughal
Empire: Raj Ghat, the memorial site of the Mahatma Gandhi; Jama Masjid, the
largest mosque in India; and Chandni Chowk, the bustling and colourful
market of the old city.
Day 3
Delhi
/ Varanasi Following
breakfast transfer to the airport in time to connect to Varanasi flight.
Meeting and assistance on arrival and transfer to the hotel Afternoon
Excursion to Sarnath: 10 kms from the center of the city, Sarnath symbolises
the birth of Buddhism. It was here that lord Buddha revealed his doctrine
and founded his monastic community. The Museum at Sarnath is amongst the
most important in India and contains carvings representing a whole range of
styles - Archaic, the covering works of sculptors from 3rd century B.C to
the 12th century A.D.
Day 4
Varanasi Early
morning, boat ride in holy river Ganges. To see the ritual bathing and
cremation is worth the effort of waking up before sunrise, a direct contact
with life on banks of the Ganges. Hindu pilgrims come to bath in the sacred
Ganga, facing the rising sun, or at dusk, when leaf-boat lamps are floated
down the river. Morning visit Varanasi City: The consists of visiting the
city temples the durga temple, better known as the Monkey temple on account
of the large number of monkeys residing there and the temple of Vishwanath
are the most sacred spots in the city. Afternoon free for shopping.
Day 5
Varanasi/Khajuraho
Breakfast at the hotel. Later in the morning transfer to the airport in time
to connect for Khajuraho. Meeting and assistance on arrival and transfer to
the hotel Afternoon visit of Khajuraho City: Founded in the 9th and 10th
century by the rulers of Chandela Dynasty, influenced by tantrism, in
eroticism becomes a theme of philosophical interest and the aim is
submlimation of sexual relationship in the sexual act or "Maithun",
womenbeing regarded as the incarnation of the divine energyor "Shakti". It
is also possible thatthe Khajuraho were influenced by "Kama Sutra". Among
the temples to visits are the Kandariya Mahadeo, Chaunsat Yogini,
Chitragupta temple, Vishwanath temple, and various other temples.
Day 6
Khajuraho/Orchha/Jhansi/Agra
Following breakfast drive to
Jhansi enroute visit Orchha, Afternoon visit Orchha: The Budela chief Raja
Rudra Pratap (1501-31) chose an easily defended and beautiful site for his
capital. Set on the island on a bend in the Betwa River, it is elevated
above the surrounding wooded countryside. Once the capital of its own state,
Orchha contains three palaces- The Raj Mahal, Rai Parveen Mahal, Jahangir
Mahal. Also visit Ram Raja Temple and Chaturbhij Temple. After the visit
continue your drive to Jhansi,in arrival transfer ro Jhansi railway station
in time to board SHATBDI EXPRESS for Agra Meeting and assistance on arrival
and transfer to the hotel.
Day 7 Agra
Following breakfast,
visit Taj Mahal including Agra City which is the medieval city if the famous
17th century masterpiece Taj Mahal, the most splendid building, perhaps the
most perfect architectural monument of the world. It was built in the memory
if the beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal of one if the greatest kings Shah Jehan of
the Mughal Empire - Agra is not only famous for Taj Mahal but the impressive
Mughal Red Fort known as the Agra Fort. The story of the Mughal Empire in
stone. Built by Emperor Akbar and successively enriched with places and
marble pavilions. Afternoon free for independent activities Overnight at the
hotel.
Day 8
Agra/Fatehpur Sikri/ Jaipur
Following breakfast leave Agra
for Jaipur by surface enroute visit Fatepur Sikri (Ghost Capital) for a tour
of these magnificent and world heritage buildings, which are still in a
state of perfect reservation. The city is divided into religious and secular
sections. The profusion of sculpture is breathtaking. Also, the white marble
mosque in the secular section is incredible. It is a very sacred mosque and
pilgrims from far and near arrives here to pay their respects.
Day 9
Jaipur /Bikaner
Following breakfast you will proceed for Elephant ride and cist Amber Fort.
Few fail to the moved by the dramatic Rajput grandeur of this hilltop
fortress. Set on the dry wrinkled Aravali Hills, and surrounded by fortified
battlements, the palace straddles two sepai-hued tundra hills overlooking
Maota Lake, and its sprawling crenellated walls lattice the surrounding
hills. We will ride up to this hilltop palace on a caparisoned, painted
elephant, passing through the ancient main gate where Maharajas of Jaipur
have entered for four hundred years. Our gate will elaborate on the history
of this architectural masterpiece. We shall also visit the Hawa Mahal oe
Palace of the winds, a five-storied structure of pink sandstone with
semi-octagonal and delicately honeycombed windows overlooking the old city.
Afternoon, we proceed for a guided tour of the city Palace & Observatory.
The center of the city Palace is a seven storied building called Chandra
Palace, with fine views over the gardens and the city. Next to the city
Palace is the Solar Observatory - an astronomical treasure house, with solar
device that gives accurate predictions till date.
Day 10
Jaipur/Bikaner
Following breakfast
proceed for half day sight seeing tour of Bikaner City- A desert fortified
city on the ancient caravan routes that originated from Africa and West
Asia. The fort, founded by Raja Rai Singh, is distinguished by its long
range of 37 pavilions. It also has windows of varying designs which lend it
a graceful dignity. An enormous archway leads to the Jormal temple in a
spacious count yard. Tar Mandir is the royal chapel where Royal weddings
and births were once solemnized.
Day 11
Bikaner/
Jaisalmer Following
breakfast proceed for half day sight seeing tour of the city, the citadel
city built in the 12th century is an architectural dream in yellow sandstone
lying in the lonely silence of the Thar Desert, would provoke wonder, at
what could have induced Jaisal, a Bhatti Prince, to settle right in the
heart of a desolate desert. The forts and palaces and several superbly
carved Jain temples in and around Jaisalmer are all reminiscent of a
gloriously history. Afternoon at leisure Evening excursion to Sam Dunes.
Day 12
Jaisalmer/Osian
Following breakfast drive
Jodhpur en-route Osian. Through a small collage now, history confirms that
Osian was once a large and prosperous city.
Osian was am important pilgrimage centre between the 8th and 9th centuries,
apparent from the surviving Hindu temples of the Vaishanava, Saura and
Shakti sects.
Day 13
Jodhpur Following
breakfast excursion to Rohet: one is transported in to a world of the past,
a world of honor and chivalry, of glory and of pride, a world of vibrant
colors and spectacular magnificence. Afternoon visit to Jodhpur, the home of
the Rathore rulers, the princely state of Rajasthan, A high 10 kms long
stone wall protects the well fortified city. Within, stands an imposing fort
in a low range of sandstone hills, about 125 mts. Above the surrounding
plains. Visit Mehranarh Fort, founded in 1459 by Rao Jodha, the fort is
intricately adorned with long carved panels and latticed windows of
exquisite designs in Red sandstone. Also visit Jaswant Thada, an imposing
white marble cenotaph build to commemorate the acts of bravery and
generosity if the rulers in 19th century.
Day 14
Jodhpur / Udaipur
Following breakfast you will drive to Udaipur, en-route visit Ranakpur:
Famous for the quadruple Jain temple dedicated, like the temples at Mount
Abu to Adinath. The whole structure has 80 domes and is of 400 pillars.
After visit continue drive to Udaipur Upon arrival you will check into your
hotel. Evening boat ride at Lake Pichola. Lake Pichola: Fringed with hills,
gardens, havelis, ghats and temples, Lake Pichola is the scenic focus of
Udaipur. Set in are Jag Niwas and jag Mandir Palaces.
Day 15
Udaipur Following
breakfast tour of the "Lake City". Udaipur is a cool oasis in the dry heart
of Rajasthan. It is probably the most romantic city in a state where every
city has some romantic or exotic tale to tell. The huge city palace towering
over the Lake Pichola is the largest palace complex in Rajasthan. Though it
is a conglomeration of buildings built by successive rulers, it manages to
retian a surprising uniformity of design and affords very fine view of the
lake and the city from the upper terraces. The Jagadish temple next to the
city palace enshrines a black stone image of Lord Vishnu and his vehicle-a
mighty bird called garuda - in a brass image. The temple is a very fine
example of Indo-Aryan Art.
Day 16
Udaipur / Mumbai
Following breakfast transfer to airport, followed a sightseeing tour of
Mumbai City in the afternoon: Our first stop is at Bombay's landmark the
Gateway to India, an elegant 26 mtrs stone archway, hastily erected as a
symbol of welcome to Queen Mary and King George V of England on their visit
in 1911. We continue to the hanging gardens perched above Malabar Hill. Then
to Mani Bhavan, Mahatma Gandhi's home and museum. You can visit Gandhi's
room, where his simple belongings are displays including his personal Bible,
Quoran and Gita.
Day 17 Mumbai
Following breakfast
excursion to Elephanta Caves, a must for any visitor to India. Mute
testimony of the Golden Age in Indian history during the Gupta period and
built to honour Lord Shiva. Elephata is a 3 kms long elongated island,
consisting of two hills separated by valley. The caves with rock-cut figures
and carvings are believed to be carved by the sculptures of Ajanta or
Udayagiri.
Day 18
Mumbai After
breakfast, transfer to international Airport. |
